P67

The boat sailed down the river with Becky and all her friends on board. They went far down the river. They landed near a wood. It was a very hot day but the wood was full of shade. It was cool there. The children played games until lunch-time. They sat down under the trees. All of them were hungry. They all ate a lot.

After lunch, they went to visit a big cave. This was an adventure for the children. The cave was dark and old inside. The children carried candles to light their way. They went this way and that, along different passages. But they did not go far because they were afraid of getting lost. They spent a long time in the cave. The cave was a most exciting place. They came out, laughing and singing. All of them were excited and happy. When night was falling, they all got back into the boat. Singing and laughing, they returned to the village. What a happy day!

Tom is in trouble

After his adventure on Jackson's Island, Tom was a hero to the other boys. They all admired him, and they envied him as well. Tom and Joe told their adventures to the boys a hundred times. The boys thought that Tom and Joe were great men. And so did the girls.

Sleeping panda

Now it is 500 AD. Here comes an Animals Magical village." Hello! I am Anne, the koala. I want to introduce my friend panda."

Z.z.z.......'0' He is my friend panda. He likes sleeping very much. But every one likes him! Why? Because he is kind, helpful, and lovely. But someone also hates him. Because he is too popular.

Oh no! There is a running race today. Panda, wake up! You want to be the slowest to reach the destination?"
" z.z.z.......'0'
"No!" So, please wake up!

RUNNING RACE............

Look, Panda. I can see Lion, Pig, and Monkey. But Monkey doesn't like Panda. He left the race silently.

"One! Two! Three!"said the judge, Owl.

Wow! Lion and Panda can run fast. Pig can, too! But Panda is the fastest. Why? Because he can roll himself really fast to catch the bamboo leaves his friends Koala is showing at the destination. When he is rolling, he is thinking of having the bamboo leaves.

All animals have a question mark "?" on the top of their heads.

Near to the end of the running race.........

Do you know, why panda doesn't fall asleep and runs so fast? Because his mind is full of the bamboo leaves he loves.

To the destination............
Oh! Panda is the winner!
Lion is the first runner-up!
Pig is the second runner-up!

"But where is Monkey?" said panda. O! Monkey is in the forest eating the banana! He misses the exciting race because he hates Panda. But he is sad to hear that Panda finally wins the race.
