Sentence Structures

Simple Sentences
  • The painter's son promised to paint Mr Dobbin's head a golden colour.
  • Tom suddenly stopped reciting the poem.
  • Tom looked around helplessly in the school hall.

Compound Sentence
  • His knife was there so he must be guilty.
  • Tom had a terrible dream and he screamed in his sleep.
  • Tom was fond of books about pirates and he liked reading books about buried treasure.

Complex Sentence

  • The boys were back again in the haunted house where they had visited before.
  • The boys were trembling with excitement when they saw the gold in the box.
  • Widow Douglas's husband sent Red Joe who was a friend of Spaniard to prison.
